Mel Carter (they/them) is a mixed, Yonsei Japanese and Queer non-binary artist, born in the Bay Area and now based in Seattle on Coast Salish lands. They have worked as a visual artist and photographer for the past 10 years, working on a variety projects like portraits, editorials, interior spaces and art documentation, curating art and showing at music festivals like from Queer techno collective TUF’s TUFFEST, Corridor Music Festival, and Bumbershoot, and exhibiting work in galleries like Veronica, Well Well Projects, and Disjecta Contemporary Art Center, with an upcoming 4Culture show in 2025. They were a recipient of the Emerging Artist Residency at Centrum in 2021 and the Museum of Glass’ Visiting Artist Residency Program in April 2024, and currently work as the Development Lead for yəhaw̓ Indigenous Creatives Collective.
